Default Hiding Spiders On Who's Online

I believe my thread title is a little off from what I'm actually trying to do, so here goes...

My board is quite small, I have about 50 active members, 100 semi-active, and 1000 inactive. Therefore, I typically have about 5-10 spiders on my website, and usually only 1-5 members active at a time. Because of this, Who's Online is full of spiders. At times, I get an insane amount, and have had 30-40 different spiders browsing at any given time.

To make a long story short, I'm fine with the spiders showing up in Who's Online, I like to be able to see them. What I would like to know, though, is if there is a way to not have them count towards the maxloggedin counter. Is there a hack, or an easy way, to not count them?

What do you have the "Enable Spider Display" set to in the Who's online options in AdminCP?

I am licensed. I changed my email address on file after posting this, and the activation email got lost in the shuffle. According to the User CP, I am showing as licensed again. I have been a proud licensed user of vB for several years now =)

I have it set to display the Spider's names. This isn't exactly what I'm interested in doing, and have no clue where to start. I do like the spiders identifying themselves as spiders in the WOL, and I think thats a start. Possibly using these names to filter from the counter?

The thing about the enable spider display is that its looking for spiders from like two sites and there are spiders from 100's of sites.

You can add more spiders to the list very easily.

What I am trying to accomplish is not displaying them as spiders, but rather, not counting spiders towards my maxloggedin variable that displays on WOL.

That can be done with some tinkering. It's just a matter of identifying the critters and not adding them to the total count. Feel free to swipe from my spiders on forumhome page hack. It should get you started. I am not going to volunteer to tackle this one because I like the inflated number the spiders give

Well, I'm trying to really figure out how many members I do have, so when I have 30+ spiders on the forums, and only 2 members, it doesn't make me feel extremely proud.

Thanks for that little bit though. I think this will be enough to help me figure out where to look.
