Externally-provided userids
I have an existing php/mySQL-based website which already has a database of users and passwords. I would like to add vBulletin to the site but don't want my users to have to have a separate userid and password just for vBulletin. (It's hard enough to get them to use one password.) Is there any way to do this?
What I have in mind is when the user selects the bulletin board facility on one of my pages, the associated php file would call (not through the server or header function) vBulletin and pass it a userid which I have already validated. Userids passed through the call would all have the same privilege and higher privilege users would have to sign on to vBulletin in the normal fashion. Has anyone done anything like this? |

It would be easier to let vB handle the authentication for the rest of your site.
