Server load issue
My server load seems pretty high since installing vb. I'm averaging 4.3 - 4.6, granted I have other things running on my server... but is there a way to limit the load in vb? Is it OK the server is constantly in the 4's?
I know you can push people away when load hits a certain level but I would rather not do that. |

You could disable some of the things, such as DHTML menus and so forth (in General Options). This saves a lot of bandwidth and processing.
It may also help if the Datastore feature is used (must add some information to the config.php to do it, this is explained on the vbulletin.com site), pulling the most common forum settings from a file as opposed to the database (this is a v3.5 feature). Cut down the number of topics/forums shown per page, by date and or number. Increase the minimum word length for searches and exclude any words from being searched that are not important, but commonly used. Just some ideas to help, most can be set from 'General' options. |
