Legal question about code

My friend and I want to get feedback on vBulletin code like modifications on hacks, templates and the like. Is it legal to post that code and have others help or give the 2c on?

What sort of feedback? If you want people to test your code, use the beat modifications forum. You have to be more specific.

But in general, so long as you do not post whole templates and files from vBulletin, you should be fine.

Oh ok. Yeah, we wanted to discuss the best way to go about modding the mods, but one thing that concerns me is the copyrights of the hack/template authors themselves. I want to make sure it is all legal first before going ahead and doing it. I think if we ask first and know what the limits and terms are I guess we will be okay.

You mean you want to make modifications to existing hacks? The best thing to do would be to ask the author of the hack, to see if it's allowed.

Yeah, specifically, we want to change the code for the quiz hack and add more features for instance:

1. Have really no right or wrong answers, but have a way to give results based on the answers given. This is similar to quizzes like "What kind of animal are you?"

2. Be able to take images for the questions and results page. This is similar to b3ta.com's quiz engine, but these are based on right/wrong answers.

This is meant to be a fun thing. I will make sure to ask the author then. Thanks again.
