[SQL] upgrading to 3.5
I got a website that wasn't started by me... So there are things i don't like how it was made or things are kinda messed up...
So when i want to move the site to 3.5 I prefer to rebuild the site from scratch... But then how can i move over the info (users posts etc) the easiest over without the fields that got added to tables by hacks... So i get a clean database again. I read some about impex merging forums but i think i keep the old mess then? |

Impex isn't available for vB 3.5 and won't be until it goes gold. However once it does i would assume if you insalled a fresh vB 3.5 forum on another database, you could use Impex to transfer data from the vb 3.0.x to the vB 3.5 forum

ok, thanks, i never used impex before but does that only copy the info to insert in the tables? or does it also create the missing tables and fields?
b/c some hacks that were installed might not be in my new database. So its kinda useless to copy that. |

ImpEx only copies standard vBulletin data. You should first use ImpEx to create a new 3.0.x forum, then upgrade to 3.5

ok so if i use ImpEx it changes nothing to the old database right? So if i mess up i can still use that one

Correct, although it is advised to create a backup database for this.
