How do I do this? I have 1 domain with multiple parked domains onto it. But when you are viewing blah.com/forum/ it can show you logged in, but then you view blah1.com/forum/ and you aren't logged in and visa versa and also with logging out, etc.
How do I get it so that all the parked domains act the same so that if somebody logs into or out of blah.com, if they have a link from one of the parked domains, it shows them as logged in or out of that domain as well? Would this be set in "Cookie Domain" under "Cookies and HTTP Header Options" in the AdminCP? Do I use spaces, commas or what? |

Since the domains don't share a common high domain name, i don't think it is possible.

Well it is really screwing a bunch of stuff up. Any type of trick? Is it possible for htaccess file to somehow rewrite the url field so that even if they type in one url into their browser when they hit the forum page it changes it to the new url? It wouldn't be soo bad if the links were direct links with the full url because then it would change the domain in their browser field, but since they are all done within the domain with . and .. etc. it continues to use whatever they have their bookmark set as from before.
I guess if need be, I could just tell my users to remake their bookmarks with the new url. :\ |

Think this could be done with rewrite. Best wait for Dean on that, he think writing rewrite rules is fun.

isnt this violating the jelsoft TOS? because it states a vbulletin forum may only run on one domain not over multiple ones>_>

Thats tricky, this option is avaliable in your control panel. (your domain cp). But Jelsoft would have to answer that.

Well, to answer your question, I've been using this "redirect" with parking for a while and a while back I got an email saying to remove one of the sites because of licensing. I explained to them what it was doing and they were fine with it. It's one database and the content is not duplicated on the server.
http://www.leetforum.com/forumz/ http://www.theforumz.com/forumz/ http://www.gameforumz.com/forumz/ http://www.techforumz.com/forumz/ http://www.3dnewz.com/forumz/ The only real problem is that my site use to go by TheForumz so everybodies link is that, but then I changed the name to LeetForum.com but didn't move the site or anything, just parked the LeetForum.com domain ontop of TheForumz.com, but the problem arises when people still use their TheForumz.com bookmark. I assume this could be a problem for all my Google indexes too. Guests that try to do stuff would likely hit a snag somewhere along the way. ![]() |
