Interested in becoming designer
I personally don't own a vbulletin message board but I've been approached a few times by some people asking can I create one for them.
I work easily with photoshop and a few other programs that has 3d elements for the last few years so that's not an issue for me. But I have absolutely no clue where to start in creating a template/style for vbulletin. Is there anything I can do or find that will allow me to enter into the world or Vb-style/template design and coding? The reason I asked here is because , obviously, this is one of the best spots to get either an answer or pointers into this new world I want to try. Thanx to those that honestly answer. |

I dont think i ever seen a tutorial or anything for vb.
The only thing you can do basicly is get vbulletin and start doing it =). Well you can create some stuff. You do the basic layout in photoshop how ever you want then you 'just' cut it up and add it in to the templates in vbulletin. Thats the basic idea anyway =) |

A lot of information there. Even with that you won't really know until you try. If you are thinking about taking on some clients and doing custom skins you might want to consider a leased license. Its only $85 as opposed to the $160 for the full license, if you are only going to use it for client work then thats the way I would go. After a few months you should know if you are getting enough bussiness to warrent a full license. With the going rates I have seen for custom vB skins, it would'nt take many jobs to make up for the cost of the license. If you are good and can deliver people will buy your skins. There are fewer people out there making skins for vB then other forums imho. I have see a lot of designers come and go, and leave angry clients behind. I think most of them just took on to many clients at once and go overloaded with work. Anyway you might want to open an admin demo so you can play with the style system yourself before buying vBulletin. |
