Since your log file is that big you are going to want to rotate or switch out the log files, which should help ALOT.

Large log files is a well-known cause of high server loads. Logrotate is your friend.

The RAM replacement took care of the swap errors and it also seems to have speeded everything up again. I also gzipped my log file and restarted httpd. Hopefully we are off on the run again after being told that it was time for a separate MySQL server. I don't think so - just yet.
