Anyone worked on an IM client that integrates with vBulletin?

I'm currently using Hubz which is an applet that runs on the page, but my users want something more like AIM.

I've seen 2 attempts, downside of both is that they could become very server intensive, without some third party system, as in flash, or even an exe that would need to be installed, there is nothing, nor will there ever be anything like it for vB.
