Can't connect to database

I have tried creating a few test databases (from the command line) and no matter what combination of username, passwords, etc, I use I get this error.

I performed all grants on the db but I'm unsure if I've crerated the users properly (or at all as far as the DB is concerned). Being a newbie to MySQL I'm not sure if a Win user is the same as a DB user in MySQL.

I even tried using the root username and pw and still no luck.

Any sugegstions?

You also need to make sure you have an OLD_PASSWORD
