I would suggest you look at something like vbAdvanced CMPS and its News function.

You can create as many 'news' displays as you like. Basically that just means you need a forum for each blogger (but it can be hidden)

Doing it via syndication is the long way around, IMO, since most of what you want already exists within the CMPS... and with a couple of template mods here and there, can be made to work quite well.
