Email and vBulletin
Hello all. I want to try to start hacking some of the vBulletin software, particularly how it's email functionality works. However, I am quite new to vBulletin so I'm not sure how it is put together. Is there some sort of email module that can be hacked, or is that functionality just spread out across multiple files?
Here is my motivation for hacking the email. We need people to be able to participate in forum discussions over email. This means that when they subscribe to a thread and get email notifications, the email should have the text of what was posted. And when that person replies, it should be posted to the message board. I have seen several requests for this for vB 3.0, but I haven't seen any progress being made on it. So, does anyone have any insight on how email works in vBulletin 3.0? Or is the reason why no one has written this in is because it is a very difficult task? Thanks. -Brent |

You will need something more complicated than hacking the vBulletin files. I think a hack like this was made a few months ago by Chen, for vBulletin 2... You might try and take a look to it and see how you can make it to work with vBulletin 3.
