So, you're saying that when you browsing the "Old Layout" (which is a well-structured search of all of the subforums), you look at a thread and reply to it, you have a link back to the same page that you were on in the old layout?

well each better browser has normally a back button and this leads me to the same page i were before i visited the thread, so if i saw the subforums it'll stay at the subforums and viceversa

Is there a way to extend this "Old Layout" link so that when you respond to a thread, you aren't automatically taken back to the subforums?

I can think of ways, but they would be complicated to implement. Anyway, just a thought.
I see what you mean... mmm... it can be done, but would mean passing a variable forward and modifying 1 php and a couple of templates...

Can we wait till RC1? I don't want to make it harder to upgrade.

Xenon: When you've posted in a thread, you'd have to go back three pages to get back to where you were. So yes, it can be done via the browser, but it's still equivalent to clicking a dropdown menu and choosing where you were at.

I'm not trying to be a jerk about it, my original post was just a suggestion, and I'm not sure why you're responding to me as if I'm some sort of idiot. I started a different thread because the point I touched on was separate from what was discussed in the other thread. Your treatment of me and of this issue certainly isn't making me want to hang around at vbulletin.org.

Erwin: I'm in no hurry, as I said, it was just a suggestion. Thanks for taking it seriously.

It's all good, people, no need to get upset over small things. When I have time, and after we go to RC, I will look into this.

i really don't know what's up.
I didn't talk about something hypothetical.
I use the back button of the browser myself every time, and actually it just needs two clicks, and these can be close together, so it's the fastest method, as the old page is also cached, so it hasn't to be reloaded each time.

A dropdown would be possible of course, but as said, it's a slower method to get the same effect.
I'm not a fan of hacking things into a board with no real use, and this wouldn't have a use in my eyes.
It has nothing to do with you, i just wanted to mention the fast way.
I don't know if you would be pleased if i just have answered with a serious "no"?

So i really don't have a problem with you, and if you thought i want to treat you like an idiot, i'll excuse myself, as i didn't plan to do this.
