I heard (rumor) some of them the authors will make them pay hacks.
How true that is I have no clue (will not say which hacks) But I beleive when vb3 goes rc most the fav hacks will be re-released fast. |

Most hacks will be re-released by someone. Don't worry...

for me it's the hacks, theirs some i just like for making life easier but theirs others which i wouldn't remove for my board for no reason. AAA+++ important hacks are Journal, Store, Arcade and the Quizzes. i just like my users having the ability to use that stuff, not to mention the fact the store cut the amount of pm's i got in half
then theirs the admin side but alot of that has been done in vb3, so when i do finally upgrade i don't expect to have half the hacs i currently have installed. but i will start my style sets asap ![]() |

I never used the arcade, the store I missed for a bit I even ported it over but then did away with it (seen no sence to it on my one community).
The journal I did port and kept. Most the hacks I liked where already in vb3, those that where not I put in. But the type of bords I run to not merit fun hacks as much. |

I lot of the hacks I have in my vb2 installations are already covered in vb3.
I wasn't planning on upgrading to vb3... but after looking at the code there's no doubt that I'm going to. Things are a lot cleaner, as well as the new features, security, etc. I'm sure a lot of people who wouldn't consider it now will take a good look at upgrading once RC1 is released. |

hacks as lets face it vb is horrible to look at unless u hack the board and make it more personal to you.

Constantly upgrading the software and fighting through bugs is not just a good use of our administrative time. Being solid and secure technically is essential for success, but larger message boards are more focused on building the forums and accomplishing the goals of the site. For example, Literotica has more than six million posts and they are still running an almost intact version of vb 2.28.
To answer your question, we are probably not upgrading until vb 3.02 comes out. It is just not a high priority to us. We do not want to fall too far behind, but for our needs a vb 2.30 board with 25 nice hacks/modifications is 90%+ as good as a vb 3.02 board with 10 hacks. |
