How do I change the lettering of the header buttons and save it as a .gif with out putting a black square board around the entire image. All i've been doing is either duplicating a layer and changing the lettering to what i want then saving or even just change the lettering of a existing layer. And everytime it puts a black square around the entire image.

Oh, I'm using PS7 and even Photoshop Elements. What ever works.
Appreciate any help.

Mark

Hehe i like your thread title

I'm confused as to what your doing here. Are you using the default vbulletin buttons from the vbulletin 2 developers kit, the buttons from my tutorial or your own buttons?

Explain in a little more detail and i'm sure i'll be able to help

yea i'm using the vbulletin 2 developer kit. And really all I wanted was a header button that says database and download but what I've been doing is opening the header buttons and duplicating one of the text layers and then changing the lettering to what I wanted. When i save it and upload it to my board the entire canvas of the image has a black border around it and it looks nothing like the originals. I'm sort of lost as to what I'm doing wrong. Do that help more.

There is no need to duplicate the text layers. Select the horizontal type tool and then simply edit the text to say database or downloads or whatever you want. Then you'll notice unusually the text has a weird fuzzy border around it. Most newbies can't fix this problem but to do so follow these instructions:

- Change your text to what you want it to say
- Then on the layer with the text on click the little purple arrow and this should create a dropdown of layer styles and it will have outer glow set on it.
- Double click where it says 'Outer Glow' and a screen should pop up.
- In the noise section make it set to 50% and then you'll notice it looks a lot cleaner

But the problem here is that you can't fit the text on so i'll make the buttons for you and attach them in the next post. But please try that little tip i gave you for removing the horrible fuziness around the text as its very useful .

Regards

Just for info,
You make me sick. You make this look so easy, should have heard the words I was calling PS yeasterday. Thank you so much. Now the fussiness was a problem but what I was talking about was when I saved the file it created a black triangle around the button sort of like it outlined the canvas area or does the fix your talking about also fix that?

Mark

P.S. Ill buy the beer next time.

Hehe your welcome. I don't know why it creates a black triangle around the button set. Simply it shouldn't. Show me a screenshot
