How did you get 8000 members in such short time? It's only possible if your site was there before you had forums or something, or your forums are a sequel to a previous site, where the members have all come over...something like that...
It's true what Lesane says there though. I have 3003 members and 152,000 posts, so my average # of posts per user is quite high too
However, I've seen a forum which has 900 members and 800 posts =/...
