I need major help with my vBPortal !!!!
I started out with the VB Message board on my site and had a friend install it for me. My site was built in Front Page so all my knowledge is with HTML. Later I realized that having a news site with stories going up everyday I needed to use a portal by VB and my friend installed it for me.
He was only able to get the front page done as well as pages like the links page because of an overload at work and he is now a full time student. My site is in a real mess and I have given a gallant effort on learning how to finish it but I am at the point of frustration and could use a few pointers. I will start by directing you to my site www.promodifieds.com I have played around in the Administrative section and learned a few things like how to add side blocks, manage the sponsors logo's on the right side and add a block for my hit counter. If you look at the menu I have 7 pages I need to complete. If you can help me with any of them or just one of them all help will be greatly appreciated. 1) "Editorial" - I would like for this page to look just like the news block after you click read more Example and I am sure it can be so when I want to post a new editorial I can do it just like I do the news, create a forum just like the "News" forum but a different name and forum ID. I do know how to setup the forum section in my message board database but I do not know how to make it a separate page. 2) "Lend America Photo Gallery" - This page needs to open and appear the same as the home page but have hyperlinked text with listings of all the races (by season end probably 30-40 races). I use a program named Breeze Browser to create my photo galleries, or at least I did when I was running my site in html format I am unsure if I will be able to now or not. What I want it to do is open a html page with the pictures in the center of the page just like a news story would be (Example ) If this is not possible I think I could create a html page with all the images I have from the skin I purchased from www.vbskins.com and just insert that page in an inline frame but I know it would be a lot slower load time using html. 3) "Race Results" - This page could be just like the Photo Gallery and just have hyperlinked text leading you to the results either to a post on the message board or to the series web page that hosted the race and the page the results would be on. 4) "Race Schedule" - For this page I would like to have hyperlinked text or images for the 6 or 7 different association?s schedules. Some of them have their own websites and I can easily have the hyperlink go directly to their schedules page and the ones that do not I would like to be able to set a separate forum up that only the administrators of the association would be able to post or edit. I am sure the same format for results could be used for Schedule. 5) "Web Design" - This page I want to look just like the rest of the pages on the site but it will have content in the center block on my very small and new web design business as many of you have figured out I'm a newbie mostly everything I do is in html. 6) "Advertising Info" - This page would be just like the Web Design page basic information. 7) "Chat Room" - I love the chat room here at vbulletin.org I am currently using phpMyChat 0.14.5 and it works some of the time and some of the time it doesn't. AOL users can not login into it unless they use IE browser. Does the room here at vbulletin.org cost anything? How would I go about installing it or if it is a real tough job maybe someone would be interested in doing it for me, I downloaded the zip for the hack but have not looked at it yet. Any advice or help that anyone could offer would be greatly appreciated. If my lack of knowledge with PHP will make this impossible for me to do on my own I would be more than glad to work something out with someone who has the know how to do what I need. I can be reached at the following on instant mess. MSN Messenger ID - promodentrepid@hotmail.com Yahoo ID - pm_gary Thank you to all that have read my problems. |

Gary, NTLDR is right....
vbPortal support needs to be handled at phpportals, I'm sure we can help you with most of your needs, this is required because of the extent of the vbPortal addon to vBulletin. We try not to infringe on vBulletin.org hacks at all without the consent and knowledge of the developer. But we can help you integrate them into your site as long as you give due credit here. |
