Default Which portal handles multiple domains?

I have recently begun hacking vBulletin to be integrated into PostNuke which is setup using multiple sites.

What this means is that vBulletin is on one site and there are multiple sites that use vB for user registration. So when a user comes to one of the sites and wants to register they are taken to the vBulletin registration page. Once registered vBulletin pokes their information into the various tables within the database.

In order for this to work all the sites must be on the same machine with a common path to the database.

PostNuke is easy to setup for using multisites because it uses a table prefix. Like one site may be called whodunit.com and the user tables for that site would have a prefix like "who_users". And another site that wants to use the same user tables as whodunit.com would set the user table prefix to "who_". This way both sites would share the same user tables.

However. PostNuke is too big and cumbersome and not as fully integrated as I would like. I want ALL the news posted to the main page to come from a category in vBulletin, use vBulletins calendar, vBulletins who's online, latest registered etc etc etc.

I like several of the "Home" style hacks here at vB.org. Like vBhome(lite), vBIndex etc.

So my questions is if any of these would be able to do what I am looking for?

Take vBIndex for instance.

Would I be able to have vBIndex on each web site and have it use certain categories within vBulletin for its main page content? Sorta like multiple sites....one vB....and each install of the vBHome portal type software would use the same install of vB but use different categories and each on a different domain. So I can install the portal on many sites but have one vBulletin install.

I hope I am clear enough in this.

For an example of using PostNuke in a multiple sites arrangement you can see this:
http://www.ut2003news.com (forums link in the header)

And this is another site that uses the same vBulletin install
http://www.bf1942news.com (forums link in the header)

And then the actual install of vBulletin is here:
http://www.pcgnetworks.com/forums/index.php within which are the categories for the other sites.

Do any of the vBulletin portal hacks/software have this capability?

Thanks for any and all help!

EDIT:
I took PhPportal out as an option because how they are doing things at phpportals.com have questionable legality IMO.

As I said...it's only questionable....but....

Since PhPportal is based on a GPL licensed product that too must be GPL...which they are and you can download the product completely free and without cost.

However. According to their site:

"Official support, addons and themes are limited to the phpPortals supporting members forums." for which you have to pay.

All these addons and themes, since they may (and may not be), using code that is at least in part derived from a GPL (GNU) licensed product, they too must be freely available and easy to get without having to pay a fee to acquire. As far as I understand the laws governing GPL is that only original code made for a GPL product can be sold in any way and if the code is derived from GPL it too must be GPL.

So my feeling about it...and I could be off base here...is that they are allowing to you to download a GPL product then tell you that you have to pay to get other parts of the GPL product.

Of course I could be wrong about whether the addons and themes are even partly derived from PhPportal but the only way for me to know is to pay to get in to their forums. Kind of ironic isn't it?

vBPortal is free.

Support for vBPortal is not free - you have to pay for it. That's fair enough.

Most addons for vBPortal are free. Some are commercial, not GPL, and hence not free.

As far as I can see, there is no illegality involved there. You can still access the phpportals.com forums, just not the support forums.

Anyway, it's only $20 or so to get support. Small price for all the work that the developers have put into it.
