PHP/mySQL vB Coding/Pro Freelance Job Available:

==============JOB DESCRIPTION==================
To convert the complete layout of vBulletin to that of a horizontal layout in it's entirety.

Functions will include both forumhome and forumdisplay functions as well as any internal vertical vB function that affects forums to be displayed as such.

Forums that currently are aligned as:

will then need to be allowed to be aligned as the above with the option of being aligned as:

1 2 3
4 5 6

or any combination thereof to be controlled via the admin cp.
Some form of a basic generic template, (any templates affected by changes), will then need a a standard generic template that allows a starting point for implementation of this code.

===========REQUIREMENTS AND TERMS=============
Candidate must have an extensive knowledge of the vB/mySQL/php system and functions.

This is time critical and needs to be completed by September 30th at the latest.

Job pay negotiable. Estimate must be given before job start. Agreements must be made before job start. References as to your knowledge of the vB/php/mySQL systems a must. Examples as to your accomplishments a must. If you consider yourself a quality code writer / developer, you are welcome to apply.

Code will be used and employed in a commercial environment and must be of quality that would allow for such just as vB itself.

Code must be written to work with the current vBulletin version at release and finalization of code.

Code will be copyrighted to this screen name and will be released to the public (vBulletin.org) at a later date, after testing, and at the sole discretion of this screen name (Hooper) as offering the job.

Testing by vB.org members will be available at that time for those interested in the code.

Payment will be made via PayPal / or Visa upon job completion and satisfaction of job performance.

The above offer expires on Tuesday, September 20th at 7:00pm CST. Selection of candidate for helping with the project can be made up until this time. Once an agreement has been made for the work to be performed, an announcement will be posted as such within a post below.

There are no current code hacks or changes that give the above mentioned functionality at the time of writing this.

Please submit as requested:
1) Your hacks or code experience as described above
2) Desired wage, either hourly or for the job in complete
3) Job time line estimate (how long it may take to accomplish the task)

Being you cannot be paid for both "by the job, and hourly", please submit your request as to "how" you would like to be paid. If paid hourly, submit hourly wage and estimate of number of hours for completion of project. If you desire to be paid for the job as a project, please state your desired wage for the project.

Although this is a needed and desired code alteration, although a paid project, please take under consideration that this will be released to all vB users as a hack addon at a later time and after testing just as all hacks are released. Free of charge to all registered vB users.

The determination for who receives the job will be made on who submits a proposal for the job description and the qualifications, past hacks, code experience etc.. and as described within the job description and requirements.

This job will be by application and based on the above requirements to those interested.

Have you checked full releases section? I recall Xenon released a hack like this. Well he'll point you the way if he did anyway..

A: Yes, as mentioned, there are no hacks that currently do what I am in need of.

B: This started off as a private request idea for the job, in other words, my intentions didn't start off by looking for writers here at the org with public advertisement. Of course the code would be copyrighted to the person paying for custom code just as my site designed by PixelBrick is copyrighted in our name by contract. Then I decided that after thorough testing, that I would release it for everyone else once satisfied with the outcome. That's the plan anyhow. If there is anything wrong with it, just let me know what it is! Great ideas always undergo alterations.

Software licences (or actually any other licences) does not usually work this way in freelance projects: It's the author who keeps the copyright and it allows the work owner right to use the software for his personal use. So the paid amount does not buy the copyright of the code but the right to use it. But well, it's non of my bussiness, it's between you and the coder you'll hire anyway...

Thank you for writing. As mentioned, there are no current hacks or code changes that I am aware of that will accomplish the goals as outlined. Thank you for the link.

If Xenon is interested in further developing or creating what is proposed and mentioned under this request, the author is most welcome to apply as well to help achieve the goals as outlined. Every coder/developer is welcome to apply and are appreciated. Details can be worked out between the parties involved.

Software code writing contracts are between the person writing the code and the person doing the hiring. Not that this request requires a contract as I see it as most business I do usually would, the person who writes custom code does maintain rights to such code unless stated otherwise according to the contract and subject to the laws that govern the state in which the transaction took place.

In any case, this is irrelevant. If a contract is needed or perferred, I have them readily available as well as applications to perform such work.

If you are interested in the job description and/or would prefer a private job under contract, just PM me with the needed information. I'll review the information as mentioned in the above messages. I was hoping to keep this as simple as possible and make whatever the outcome of the project available to all vB users once completed and tested by those interested in the alteration.

Thank you to those who sent PM's.

I was going to wait a few days until I could see who all was willing to help with the project. PM's came in and wow... what a bunch of gifted vB' coders and program writers there are in this community. Another fellow vB'er emailed me, had a demo up and running and ready to go this evening, and has emailed the code. It is a modified version of an available hack and seems to work very nice. Not what I was expecting mind you, ... But if it works great, for sure don't knock it!

Thank you to those that applied. Your hack lists and experience is incredible and you folks are a real asset to the org. I couldn't thank you enough for being here.
