How does one acquire advertisers?

Many sites a while back, would ask their membership for "Sponsors" and then showcase those sponsors ads on the forum. You can also consider showcasing Ads from others on your site using something like Google Adsense or another "Show Our Ads, Get Compensated" type of site.
