How do you keep members engaged with points systems?
I've had a points system on my forum for a long time. I use a lot of DragonByte mods. There's a shop and an arcade. The arcade's good in its own way but unfortunately it's gotta go soon. Arcade plugins were great back in the day but nobody wants Flash anymore.
The issue I face is that the shop items are only novelties. Just fun little trinkets for an inventory, but they won't hold attention for long. Point raffles or lotteries are only cool if members have a reason to want points. One thing that would help is being able to buy access to smilies, but I don't think that would be so straightforward.
Do you use point systems? If yes, what do you use in conjunction to give your members a reason to want points? Any suggestions?
