How to Add a Custom Field to a New Thread
Is there a way to add a new field for members to complete when posting a new thread, in addition to the title and thread content? For example, adding a field or drop-down menu for members to identify the state in which they are located.
The default new content / new thread form: How the form might look with an additional field: The idea is to collect specific information when a person is posting a thread, and either include it in the body of the text they post or as a separate field. I have searched extensively for discussion of this type of mod, but I haven't found anything. |

Does it need to be in a thread? Why not just make a custom profile field for State? That way, they will only enter once as oppose to entering every time they start a new topic which may be annoying to the user.

The need is to get an additional piece of information specific to the thread. It's information that could change from post-to-post, so a profile field isn't sufficient. The state is just an example.
