You need to copy codes in your template into a software like Dreamweaver and remove the according column.

I would keep RSS icon on forums, this has more benefits than removing them.

Honestly I also removed RSS icons on my forum but now I have to put them back on my forum and using feedburner as a rss channel to show feed from forums.
