Issues with Logging Out of the forum
We've just upgraded PHP and now no one is able to log out of the forum. It appears to work okay on inactive users being logged out automatically after a specified period, but logging out on purpose isn't working.
The pop up appears asking if you are sure you want to log out, but it just stays logged in. It is all my site users, and have tried clearing my own cookies, the forum cache etc, and tested it on FF, Chrome and IE. Has anyone else had a similar issue? (edit: Sorry - we're on 4.2.1 ) |

Did you change the "Path to Save Cookies" option in vBulletin?

You can also try using tools.php in the vbulletin tools and change your cookie prefix in the config.php file if techgenius's tip doesn't work.

this is what we currently have // Prefix that all vBulletin cookies will have // Keep this short and only use numbers and letters, i.e. 1-9 and a-Z $config['Misc']['cookieprefix'] = 'bb'; |

Open config.php in a text editor such as Notepad++, and copy and paste this code at the top, after "<?php".
Code:
define('DISABLE_HOOKS', true); config.php is located here - "forum_root>includes>config.php" Just incase if you have trouble finding config.php. Then see if that fixed the problem. If it did, then the problem is with one of your addons you have installed and enabled. |

Hi, Thanks for the help.
We already have #define('DISABLE_HOOKS', true); at the top of the config.php Tried just removing the # and the tested logging out of the forum - that didn't work, but removing the # did mean that a couple of plugins stopped working - a chatbox and vsa advanced statistics. I have put the # back in again. We are under constant brute force attacks at the minute (well last two weeks), and have our xmlrpc.php file renamed at the moment..... --------------- Added [DATE]1432306823[/DATE] at [TIME]1432306823[/TIME] --------------- nope wasn't that, don't know why it would be, just tried changing that back. It happened when we did the php upgrade. I presume we will need to switch off all our plug ins on the VB side and test each one. |

What version of php are you using? Have you checked the php error log? It could be that you're getting an error because something isn't compatible with the new version.

PHP is now 5.3.3
error log - nothing since 16:22 ( and I've been testing logging in and out, clearing cookies in between and so on and no errors showing up at all ) --------------- Added [DATE]1432316175[/DATE] at [TIME]1432316175[/TIME] --------------- Panic over... thanks for your help guys, as it turns out I am just an idiot and had accidentally changed a link while doing something else.... and everything just coincidentally occurred at the same time.... so next time, remind me to look at the blindingly obvious bits FIRST. xx Sorry, and thanks xxxx |
