i disabled it last night
i see now it runs once and not finished yet. maybe later more cron.php but now only one

refer to the operating system functions poll() and recvfrom() which have to do with reading from sockets (network connections), so the problem doesn't necessarily have anything to do with vbulletin events or polls.

If the problem still exists after upgrading to vb3.8.9, I would look at things that make network connections, like sending emails (birthdays?) or getting RSS feeds (if you have any of those defined).

from the day that i disabled EVENTS mod, it take effect on the problem
and i see daily max two cron.php running together.

the problem reduced but not resolved completely.
I also disabled RSS feeder to check again

i upgraded my vb to ver 3.8.9 and it seems problem solved.

I don't know, but you could try disabling individual feeds (if you have more than one), and maybe you can narrow it down to one causing a problem.
