vB Censorship Function Question...
Hi
I am currently using the fetch_censored_text() function in my titles but I have removed some of the censored words and I cant seem to get the titles to show the words again instead of *'s.. my question is when vBulletin does it with titles where does it store the words its removed to know where to put them back. if you understand |

Unfortunately, it doesn't. vbulletin replaces the censored words before the post is saved in the database. But you say you're using the fetch_censored_text() function, so if that means it's custom code, then it depends on how the function is used.

with the thread titles when you remove the censored words from the admin cp and then you run the Rebuild Thread Information and it replaces the missing words from the titles so it must store them somewhere in the database... thats what im looking for

Well, OK, this is something I didn't know: the fetch_censored_text() function is applied both before a post is saved and before it's displayed. So what happens is that if you write a post with a "bad" word in it, then censor that word in the admincp, the word is still in the database but it's being censored when the post is displayed. So if you then remove the word from the admincp, it comes back. Unless you edit the post, then the censored version is saved and you can't get it back. Also, any posts that are written when the word is in the admincp are permanently censored.

I did, and it didn't come back. I might have something set different. But in any case, maybe someone else knows.
