Frequently Asked Questions.

Q. Why are all the groups / users are the same color?

A. For those of you not familiar with, or have issue with html markup, here is a quick guide.

Username HTML Markup. ACP --> Usergroups --> Usergroup Manager edit each usergroup, you will need to add the html to the two input fields found in the setting, Username HTML Markup.

NOTE: Your field boxes won't be as wide as the ones in the image, I over-sized them for illustration purposes.

The first field is the opening tag. The second field is the closing tag. These tags will be inserted around the user's username like this:

Code:
[opening tag]username[closing tag]
Some HTML tags you might want to use here include:

Code:
<span style="font-weight: bold;"> </span>
<span style="text-decoration: line-through; font-weight:bold;">  </span>
<span style="font-style: italic;"> </span>
<span style="text-decoration: underline;"> </span>
<span style="color: red;"> </span>
Example 1

First field
Code:
<span style="color: Red;">
Second field

Code:
</span>
Example 2

First field

Code:
<span style="color: Blue; font-weight: bold;">
Second field

Code:
</span>
You can also do combinations by using more than one attribute in the style property.

Q. Wait, I have different colored styles, it is very difficult to choose a color to work on them all, what can I do?

A. Well then you should use this solution. It will take time to set up for each usergroup, but it's worth it.

First off add this code to your additional.css templates for all your styles.
In each style you can define a different color for each group.
You can add more groups or change the names as you wish.

Code:
.admin
{
        color: #FF0000;
        font-weight: bold;
}

.moderator
{
        color: #0000ff;
        font-weight: bold;
}

.supermod
{
        color: #32CD32;
        font-weight: bold;
}

.registered
{
        color: #802A2A;
        font-weight: bold;
}

.banned
{
        color: #000000;
        text-decoration: line-through;
        font-weight: bold;
}

.group1
{
        color: #FF8000;
        font-weight: bold;
}

.group2
{
        color: #A020F0;
        font-weight: bold;
}

.group3
{
        color: #FFC0CB;
        font-weight: bold;
}
Then for each usergroups html markup do like this.

Example 1

First field
Code:
<span class="admin">
Second field

Code:
</span>
Example 2

First field

Code:
<span class="moderator">
Second field

Code:
</span>
Remember to change the class to the usergroup you are working with.

You can get a good list of colors here, Color Codes

The first screenshot is of the settings in the acp.
The second screenshot is of the legend in the What's Going On area.
The third screenshot is of the legend, when it is displayed in the locations, Forumhome Above Forums, Forumhome Below Forums, and Forumhome Below NavBar.

Question (s) :

Using vBa CMPS here and would like to see this display on the Forum Home Page of the CMPS. Perhaps as a block onthe side, or listing on the top of the page. Which is "cmps_index.php" rather than the default.

Second, and this is more of a whatever really, but it would be nice of there were a way to "Link" a thread to the Usergroup Display, so if someone clicks on it they would be brought to a Thread explaining what each Usergroup is, or does. So For Example...

Administrator : God mode user
Moderator : Someone you ask about this or that
Site Supporter : Someone who gave us Money :P
Weasel : Someone who if you PM them will annoy you for weeks

Or similar if you get what I am saying here, it's one thing to have the different Usergroups displayed, but for some New(er) users having an explination of what each group is and or does may prove useful?

Just a thought.

Otherwise an Excellent MOD indeed! One small note, the MOD does not seem to interpret HTML Colour codes, so FF0000 will appear white rather than Red, where as it does understand "Red"in the html markup of the Usergroup....

Thanks...
