Ever wonder how big forums and boards like ESPN, Warrior Forum, Digital Point and others started. At one point or another they did what some people call ?Fake it till you make it.? Every massive board has done this at one point or another to while they were just getting started. Its? called social proof. If other ?people? are on the forum, then they want to join in too. But if no one uses the forum, or appears to be using the forum, no one will join.

The fact is, forum work is extremely tedious to start off with. Its? like building a snowman. At first, the snowball takes time to get round, and get big. But once it is big, and you continue to roll it, it just gets? bigger and bigger. And you can stop using fake stats at that point.

So what does Fake Stats do for vBulletin?
Everything! It shows:

Lite Version

• Fake member count
• Fake user count
• Fake date
• Fake registered usernames on vBulletin ?Whats? going On?
• Fake # of thread count
• Fake # of posts count
• Fake time of greatest number of users online
• Ability to show as many fake usernames in whats? going on
• Preset usernames, over 30, already listed right on plugin installation
• Ability to turn on and off specific settings.
• Ability to show real usernames with fake usernames
• When user clicks on fake username, link goes to register, or have no link at all.
• Fake users are randomized with real users
• Which usergroups can see fake stats

Notes:
Its' extremely powerful as long as you dont go overboard and make outrageous claims about your forum. Without saying where this is deployed on some client sites, it is extremely effective
in making the site look a lot more active and creating a feeling of active environment.

Any forum owner KNOWS that its key to have an active looking forum to get the forum to be MORE active. In the end, if no posting is going on the forum, this plugin will not help. It compliments an active admin.

its no good if you dont make this option in the lite
Show users online by user ids
its like you are forcing us to buy the pro version
as it shows x amount of members online but not there names so what is the point in even installing it

I have to agree with ForceHSS

I totally get the need for Lite and Pro versions.

However, a Lite version needs to have the right stuff in it for eval purposes and to be compelling to install to begin with.

My hesitation in installing are these elements not in the lite:

Automatically creates profiles
Ability to set usergroup for fake users who are added
Fake users have REAL profiles

If I were to install this, my users will easily call it out being fake stats and this is embarrassing and sometimes hard to recover from.

It will actually drive people away.

If they see fake stats/users and the profiles are missing this will be a dead giveaway they are fake.

I would need to set usergroups for this because if they are showing up as users in particular usergroups on my site where a lot of the people actually know people it will tip off the fact they are fake.

It's a neat idea and I can see how useful it could be and I would love to try it... but I also don't want it to be obvious to the savy people on my site... which I know I would get called out on.

Theres at least 4-6 new functions in this plugin that are in lite that do not exist anywhere else that are in available as the ability to modify the number of viewers per forum category, which is HUGE as well as provides a single plugin for all of the "existing functions" that fake plugins has.

We can't give all of it away... I really struggled to give as much as free as possible while still providing a good value proposition to premium people.

No mod can do the all the functionalities inside this mod.

-Random rotations of users
-adds users to forum viewing + active users so its dynamic numbers always changing
-ability to set entire usergroups online
