Hi, vb5 1.3...
added some child channels to main forums, but doesnt display any of them. tried both (show as channel, or act as subject)... help? (could it be because of custom changes to the template? additional.css some buttons and so) |

Generally, this is due to permission settings - make sure the child channel is viewable to the usergroup. I think that's the only place that decides whether a child forum is displayed or not. Take a look at http://www.disaster.com/forums under "Natural Disasters" to see how they should display.

Hi, so. That?s correct.
Now i know what the problem is, but i dont know how to fix it. A guy made me a drop menu for the forum. The forum name is "City" and the drop menu consist of 27 cities (child forums).... But the problem is, because of the drop menu the child channels have to be hidden on that page, cause that page should just consist of the Drop menu, and last activity from all the child channels. but, to do that. we hid the child forums. ... but, we need to allow the next child channels to be screened, altough the first layer should be hidden. the guy who made the job, says its not possible, to hide only one layer of forums....... please... what do i need to do to hide only those....otherwise everything?s f***ed. thank you. I can't write it for you, but you might want to look into modifying the template to include some javascript code to hide various page elements. Each subforum is put on the page (at least the forum listing page) with a unique ID, and you should be able to set the element to display:none for the ones you don't want to show.
