What does this do?

- It ensures that people can't use one word subjects like "Hi" or "What". You can set any number of minimum characters (via the Admin CP > vBulletin Options). The default is to require all users to use subjects with at least 15 characters.

- The plugin will also ignore users who try to use more than 3 period '.' marks. So if someone did "Hi.........." it would auto-trim this back to "Hi..." and make it fail the character limit test.

How to install?

- Just download the .xml file to your PC and then import it like all other plugins.

Please click the INSTALL button if you use.

Thanks for sharing. you have put a bit of thought into this. however what happens if someone does this.

Hi .

you may not be able to see what I did above so ill put it in code boxes
Code:
Hi .
Basically it contains a whole heap of spaces and then a full stop.

I know this method breaks character limits everywhere else, so maybe you should also set a limit on spaces if it breaks this as well.

Thanks.

What do you want a screenshot of? The error message is the only thing to show :S

I'll take a look at the spacing issue, thanks. I guess it comes down to allowing users on your site who consistently try to break your guidelines.

An idea for an automatic checking of thread titles:

- One word titles not allowed (not descriptive enough) - regardless of character limit (that I wouldn't use at all)
- Define fillwords (e.g. "question, advice, hint, problem, help, work"); if the title consists of more than XX% of fillwords, suggest rewording
- Define stopwords (e.g. vulgar words); if the title contains even one stopword, suggest rewording
- Define stripwords (or strings); strip those silently from the title
- Strip advanced excessive punctuation. That's what this mod already does I guess? It should however strip also combinations like some users' favourite "?!?!" etc
- Strip exclamation marks (!) and special signs (basically ASCII 128-255) altogether.

Will this mod work in vB 4.x, or have the hooks changed?

Error message doesnt specify the right character limit.
