I'm not quite sure what you're saying, but by creating your own xml file in the includes/xml directory named cpnav_****.xml, you can add your own left side menus to the admin cp, or add items to the existing menus. Look at the existing file, like cpnav_vbcms.xml for example, which adds the vbulletin CMS menu.
