why should i upgrade to vb4?
My 3.8.x forum is undergoing a redesign and i'm thinking if i shld upgrade to vb4. Currently, i'm satisfied with vb3.8 and no major complaints. So are there any compelling reasons why i should upgrade to vb4? Tks.

None that I've ever seen. I stayed with my 3.8 and have never looked back. Latest version of it, 3.8.8 - addresses the new PHP version issues as well.
They will have to pry my 3.8 out of my cold, dead hands. Just far too many security issues with version 4, just for starters. Look around here at vB dot org at all the "OMGz I have been hacked!" threads. They are all v4 installations. Don't do it, is my advice. You'll rue the day. |

The vB4 CMS is one of the most popular parts of our site. With some customization, it really can be a powerful & attractive feature. We've been happy with 4.2 - no bugs or anything like that. The only hack we experienced seemed to be unrelated to vB. I'd personally recommend it, but if you have no complaints with 3, then why not stick with it (like vB.org has done) - I think it's a bit faster than 4 as well.
