AME 2.5 - Media Embedding for posts, sigs, vm's, groups and blogs
Developer Last Online: Jan 2019
From the makers of the letters O and Yea comes the hottest 'must have mod' of the season: AME 2.5 - The Return of The Hot Mama.
Thanks everyone for making AME 2.5 Mod of the Month AME is the multi award winning modification that smartly scans new and edited posts for URLs from a customisable variety of web sites (i.e. YouTube or Amazon or about 200 others). If it finds a match, AME will 'transform' the URL into inline embedded media without your users ever having to even think about it. It was important for me to create a system that did not need updating (and subsequent reinstalling) every time one of the sites it supported decided to change the way it displayed its media (which is all the fricken time). Therefore I built a system in which the 'definitions' for each site could be imported, exported, tweaked and shared on a whim. This way, you only have to import the definitions that you want. It also allows the vB community to get creative and share definitions that I wouldn't of thought of! Which sites are supported? Included in the default installation is YouTube and Amazon. At time of posting this, I believe that there are over 180 sites supported that have been created by the vBulletin community. These range from sites that stream videos to Amazon referral links to locally hosted music and video files. Check out the 'add ons' section of this post below to see availible add-ons. For a total list of features and an FAQ, see click here. For a post on troubleshooting, click here. Though not tested on any version of vBulletin lower than 3.7.4, in theory it should work on versions 3.5 and higher (just dont quote this bit!). Big thanks goes out to all those in the community that have supported this mod. Especially Digital Jedi who gives great support on this mod and has created over 160 definitions for this system alone! Alright, then. I'll go ahead and release it when I'm done. Currently I'm trying to figure out the problem with missing keys when my large master XML is imported. This has been complicated by the fact that my site is down (again) and I'm having trouble getting a backup to restore it. But I have a demo board I can work this out in. I just didn't have my definitions fully loaded there. So that will take me a little while longer. Actively working on it.

Just to verify this is indeed a PHP error, is anyone besides me having trouble deleting definitions from your list once you have more than a hundred definitions? I'm fairly convinced this is a server error, but if any of you can replicate this problem on your boards, it would help me to work out any final bugs that may or may not exist in AME 2.5.

If anyone would like to be a Beta tester for me, I should have a copy of AME 2.5.7 ready for testing tomorrow. Sunday at the latest.

|[ANNOUNCEMENT]| A little later than expected, but ain't that the norm? My fork of The Geek's AME has been posted here: DJ's AME 2.5.7 :: Return of the Jedi (It's not really called that.) If you'd like to give AME 2.5.7 on your test installations a roll, feel free. And get back to me in that thread with any feedback. Note that people having problems importing my master list of definitions will probably still experience the same issues with 2.5.7. This appears to be a server issues, rather than a product one. I'll address that issue with the next release of my master definitions set. |

This mod needs to be deleted or moved to the grasveryard!!!
It does NOT work on vb3.8x with a new install. |

Some people still use it and run it successfully, so it won't be graveyarded due to the fact that it is not working for you.
You should try this version, DJ's AME 2.5.7 :: Return of the Jedi (It's not really called that.) |

Yep tried the as well and still doesn't work! Maybe I missed something. For a fresh install do you need to install the additional definitions to get youtube videos to work. Because with both this version and the 2.5.7 neither work with youtube once the mod is installed.

I am sure DJ will get to your posts in the mod's thread as soon as he can.

I hope so. The only think I can guess is the issue is that my site has a SSL certificate installed and that is somehow messing with the ability for his mods to embed videos since my site uses https and not http... Anyway that is just a guess...

Huh? works for me. I installed it within the last 2 months in 8 forums. 3 were 3.7.x, 2 were 3.8.X and 3 were 4.1.X
