I need to turn on/off article views en masse on a weekly basis. Can this be done?

Perhaps change the cms_node.showviewcount field from 1 to 0 or vice versa (UPDATE cms_node SET showviewcount = 1 or 0). And you'll have to Clear System Cache after doing this (TRUNCATE cache).
