Access Mask Help
Hey folks, I'm running a new pilot program where contributing members get special access to a hidden forum as a sub-moderator. I'd like this hidden forum to be a subforum of my existing moderator forum, but when I do that it keeps inherenting the settings of my parent forum. I've edited access masks individually to allow access to this subforum and created a new usergroup with permissions to view the subforum, but nothing seems to bypass the parent forum's settings.
I did manage to get it to work by making the forum its own parent forum, but I'd like to avoid that. vB tutorials have been helpful, but haven't solved the problem. Any tips? |

You should really avoid access masks at all costs. They'll just trip you up in the long run.
Forums always inherit from the parents settings. You'd be better off just customizing the groups access directly in that forum itself, or making it part of another forum so it isn't getting the permissions you don't want them to see. |
