This is a request for anyone interested in creating a VLC media player BB Code for vBulletin forums. I would like to use the VLC media player for members to view movies/videos on the forum without them having to download a program.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. |

I don't see how that would work, VLC is something that needs to be on someones computer.

If it has to be downloaded by them then that is fine. I'm just looking for a way to add the player to the forum. Either by adding it to the forum template and/or bb code.

The reason you cannot find what you are looking for is because @zachery is right, "you can't". What you are missing is how video and audio work through browsers. Read up on html5 video standards or using a flash player. With a bbcode all you can do is trigger the users player that is already loaded in the browser, either via an addon or extension to that browser. I hope this helps. Read up... you will get it.
For example many boards use jw_player, flow_player etc... When you play video the browser either loads up flash or plays through html5 codecs. I would suggest running one of the two players above, because the user does not have to install vlc on his system. Unless that is specifically what you want to do. In that case look up what codecs on VLC you want to support. |

Besides, as nice as it is, VLC isn't foolproof. The current version (64 bit only, presumably) is constantly crashing in Windows. And don't even get me started about the current Android version!
