Make MODs work in higher VB versions?

Hi,

I am not technical, so am often clueless about how to go about getting what I want in VB.

This is a general question, and I realize it depends a lot on the specific MOD in question. However, I have VB 4.2. There are some great MODs in earlier VB versions that are unavailable in 4.2, unfortunately. I am assuming it is a lot of work as so many cool MODs are not upgraded. As I said, I realize it depends on the particular MOD in question, but generally, how huge a project is it to upgrade a MOD? Is it reasonable to think about hiring someone to do that?

For example, here is a MOD for vBadvanced CMPS that will display avatars in the recent threads mod. https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=240095 . Is it reasonable to think about asking someone to upgrade it?

I don't know exactly what the issue is with that mod, but my guess is that it shouldn't be a big task to get it to work. It's for an early version of vb4, and at least one person says that it's working with vb4.2.1. Maybe you should uninstall it and try following the install instructions again from the beginning (if you haven't already). I think there were a lot of template updates as vb4 evolved, so maybe you just need to apply the changes again.

These are cool. Thanks v. much, Ba'al. I think I will use the Last Poster Avatar . That adds a lot. However, what I was asking about was the recent threads MOD in aBadvanced CMPS. Without an avatar, the mod looks very weak and uninteresting. Dress it up with avatars and it really lights up. An older MOD does that, but I can't find an update, wondering how complicated it is to upgrade something like that.

Sorry brother i am not a coder by any means so i would have no clue,but i use both of those Mods and they give alot of options, install and see if you like them.

I especially like the Digitalpoint Mod, very nice and works awesome.

Thanks for the hacks. The one that puts an avatar by the autorhors name on the right of the forum list is brilliant. Installed in a minute, no fuss, no bugs, no problems.

My guy just installed the one I was originally asking about, the one that displays an avatar on the recent threads list at vBadvanced CMPS => https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=240095 . He said no problems installing it, and it makes a big difference in the look of the front page =>
