Phantom Attachments
I'm setting up a brand new forum (vB4.2.0 (patch level 3). While creating some new threads with attachments I discovered that 'my' Attachments Manager includes thirty+ images that I've never uploaded.
I'm trying to delete them from the database where they are stored. In the AdminCP > Attachments > Statistics > Five Users Whose Attachments Take Up the Most Space my name is listed along with the number 38 and a and a total size of 1.02 MB. Attempting to View Attachments to see and delete the unknown images only the four that I've actually uploaded are listed. One other peculiarity is that all the phantom images are all between 37.5K and 37.7K. I'm baffled. Does anyone have any suggestions how I could clean up this little detail? thanks |

Did you install the CMS? And did you install the CMS default data? If so, it is under your userid. Delete the articles and the attachments should get deleted.

Hi Lynne,
Thanks for your reply. It sounds as though you have the answer. I didn't do the original install and while I'm becoming conversant with the vBulletin software, mostly through the Admin CP (although I've looked at the actual installation on my hosted web server), i'm not sure how to follow your suggestion. Could you elaborate slightly for more of a newbie, please? Regards, Welles |

I'm not sure what you are asking about. If you installed the default vBulletin CMS articles, then you need to delete them if you want to be able to delete the attachments in them. So, go to the article, edit it, and click delete.

Aha! My apologies. I have had the forum software so modified that I totally forgot about Articles. They no longer appear on my forum at all but evidently still exist in the database. I'm going to bounce this issue back to the developer who helped me implement my forum design. He'll sort it out.
Thanks again for your suggestion. |

Thanks Lynne. Your direction was exactly right and my developer had the issue resolved in a couple of minutes.
