Default Good book on VBulletin?

Are there any good books to learn Vbulletin inside-out?
The manual seems to be lacking in a few details

How did everyone here learn how to make mods?

Books? doubt it. First of all read the articles, then try writing some of your own, learn to interpret error messages and check out the code of other coders. Presto.

What Ziki said - plus, I've always thought that it's very difficult to write mods without looking the existing code. There are some people that seem to manage it by guessing at hooks and variable names, but frankly that always amazes me. So I'd say if you want to create a mod the first thing would be to find the code responsible for the part you want to change, understand it (or at least the basics of it), then (hopefully) find hooks in places that let you modify it.

Edit: ...well, the first first thing would be to set up a test site on a local machine (using XAMPP maybe), and get an editor or something that lets you search for things across all the vb files (I use NetBeans, but that's probably overkill if you're not using it as a development environment). But I'm really far from being the local expert on mod development, so other people probably have some better suggestions.

Nothing current, unfortunately. I did a search on Amazon a few months ago and the most recent vbulletin book was for version 2.X.

Many learned and mastered vB3 and had problems with vB4.
The books would go out of date pretty quick. I would just consider every post boofo posts is a book

Honestly speaking, this forum and the vb.com forum are the best places to get questions answered. Lord knows I've asked my share.
Just so you get the best responce to a question, be as clear as you can. Supply as much information as needed. If more is needed a responder will ask you for it.
And say thank you when you get your question answered.

It might looks a little complicated at the begin but things will start to make sense soon. Only thing you need is patience.
