separate threads/posts on forumhome
Okay, I've been struggling to get this sorted out for a while. I'd like the forumhome to have threads and posts in their separate columns, instead of the same one.
I've followed the instructions in this thread but it wasn't good enough - the result wasn't really separate columns, but post count and thread count next to each other. It looked awkward and poorly designed. What I'm aiming for is what older versions of vb had. I've tried a lot of css edits in forumbits.css but no luck. I've tried separating the postcount and the threadcount and giving them separate ids but still can't can't get it to look anything close to proper. I feel like this is probably a common mod, but searching doesn't show any results. IF there is a thread, could someone point me to it? Any tips or help is greatly appreciated. I'm getting closer, but can't quite get it. This is the closest I've managed: |

Okay, I managed to get columns set up. The problem is the posts and thread count, though alogined horizontally, don't sit in the center of the forum. They are near the top of each forum row, I'd like them centered. What's the best css property to do this?

I'm also trying to get a posts and thread title for the columns between the forum name and the "latest post." Thanks for taking a look. |

How about an image of exactly what you want it to look like? Right now you have the description being wider than the forum area (which is 45%) - is it supposed to be that way?

Hey lynne-
This basically explains/shows it: https://imgur.com/wVZXR I don't think the description width is supposed to be that way... you mean it spills out of the forum area? I can't see it because of my screensize |

You know, not everyone is going to open their browser as wide as you do. I keep a couple of browser windows open at a time and this is what I see on that page:
See how the forum description goes 'under' the thread count? That is what I was talking about before. |

I made some changes, I think it looks better but not perfect once you shrink it too small.
Any idea on how to center the postcount and thread count in the row? And on where to add a title for these two columns? |

I think you just need to play with the widths and padding using firebug to get it how you want.
As for heading, add the Text to the template in the same way you added the count. To find the template to modify, do this - vboptions > General Settings > Add Template Name in HTML Comments > set to Yes . Then go back to your page and view the source code and you will see the name of the template called around your part of the code. (Sometimes the template is the one mentioned at the very top of the page source.) |
