Block registration by IP address
Currently I have a long list of IP addresses, which happen to be dynamic, which I'd like to block from registering. The problem is they sometimes match the IPs of good members who are already on the forum. I'd like it so that people who can't register would contact me (as they have been so far) and I can check if they're a good member or one of the bad members.
Is there some sort of mod to add this functionality? Thanks in advance! |

You could implement a mod that puts registering IP's in a certain list into the "Users Awaiting Moderation" group and then verify them from there. I am not sure if a mod like this exists although it would not be very hard to code at all.

I had trouble changing the highlight colour of a postbit... everything is hard for me to do In fact, I can't even get the UAM thing to work - I clicked the radio button requiring all new accounts to be moderated by me, but I think that spam mod that puts them into Newbies overrides it. I don't really want to approve everyone manually anyway...

There are anti spambot mods that attempt to keep track of known spammer's addresses. But if these are local people you're trying to block that won't work. As you've learned, you don't dare block any ISP "pool" IPs since they're likely to be used by legit users down the road.
