Default Custom Html Front Page without header or footer.

Can anyone enlighten me on how to create a custom page with absolutely nothing one it. I just want to have an image and an enter button. Pages created via the CMS have the VB header and footer which I don't want showing.

I could make a custom html page and upload it to the root. But from there how do I get VB4 to display it as my front page? I figure if I could give it a URL alias then it would work and assign it as the front in the CMS settings it would work. But how the heck does one apply a alias to a page made outside of the CMS ?

Any thoughts or help on the matter would be highly appreciated.

Thank You.

Thank You. I did come across those but those all seem to be using the VB templates. And from what I can see they will all pull the header on to them. Whatever I tried did.

Anything that seems to be included within the VBtemplate system includes the header and footer. It seems logical that it would. The question is how do I bypass it completely.

I don't need it to be included it in the templates either. As long as I can have a splash page sorta thing as mentioned in my first post.

Im not sure but I suspect a possible solution would be having an index.html file in the root folder with my custom page. But I have no idea how that would work with the index.php

Anyway to redirect the main url without affecting any seo etc to the html index?

Here's the theory -

The .html file would override the .php file. Any subsequent links to index.php from within the vb system would go to the standard vB type index.php page.

I'm looking to do the same thing, only I want the user to see a different page based on whether or not they are logged in, so that if not logged in you get a splash page with login form (so it would need to be a php file) and a link to register or to contact admin if you've a problem registering. If you are logged in you'd get the standard CMS hme page. I'm kinda think for my needs I'd have to have an interstitial page to determine the user status so that they don't have to sit around while the not-logged-in page renders to be redirected to the right one.

I'm having no luck getting any help on that
