Ok, so I am sure my forum was exploited somehow via, some type of shell script that infected it using a sort of IFRAME exploit. How? I am not sure. The day my forum was attacked, it showed nothing but a blank page, I then viewed the source and in the source it has something like <i frame=" and it led to a website in the uk I never heard of or was associated with.
I do not have the website on hand it iframed to. I then asked my host to help me. They did but during there attempt they reported back that my entire public_html folder was deleted. At which time I then reinstalled a fresh VB of the same version. I had my host pull a backup SQL off my server. Which they then tried to restore via SSH. This did not seem to work, they also edited my config.php to match the new database/user they created. They were able to pull 2 backups. Which they tried both. I opened myphpadmin and checked the sql, all checks came back good. I do however have a backup from NOV 6th months before the attack. Which I have not yet tried uploading only because the newer SQL's check came back ok. I was thinking maybe I need to run upgrade script. How excactly do I do this? And do I need to upload my install.php back to do so. Thank you all for your help. The database is about 37mb, it was tried to be restored via SSH, and myphp. Upon uploaded it was all succesfull yet my forum does not restore. I am not excatly a vbulletin expert but i have moved forums before (altho it was nothing more then copying the public html folder over) .......... I have read that sometimes Upgrade may need to be ran...yet I am unsure how to do so... |
