you can always just allow uploads of lets say wmv to your upload/attachment dir, you will have to add the file type in
attachments, in the option

they will just have to click the link and play the video in media player as the pic shows, to cause it to auto play using a certain player or converting them to flash or a lot of other things would take a mod that allows a lot of permissions to a directory on your server. there is a few other things that would allow it to play itself but with wMV the options like not playing the video until you press play is a problem. that's why everyone uses flash
