Yes, I am just missing something as I can't figure out how to edit the .htaccess file for my site.
I tried to upload a new file, but cpanel says a file already exists. I can find it when I do a search, but I can't seem to access it. I've searched the forum, but everything just says what to change, but not how to even access the file in the first place. Thanks, christi |

if you have Cpanel, you can select the file and edit it online, with the "edit" button... simply. no need to reupload it.
btw, this is not vBulletin related, it is more a Forum and Server Management topic... ![]() |

I'm trying to install a mod.
Yeah, I go into File Manager, then to public html, but can't see the .htaccess file in order to be able to edit it. However, when I try to upload a new .htaccess file, it says one already exists. It's as though the file is hidden. |

It *is* hidden. the . before the name makes it a hidden/invisible file. If you are using an ftp client, you need to set it to view invisible files.

Any way through cpanel?
OK, I went through Legacy File Manager, and it gave me the option to see hidden files. It appears that my .htaccess file is empty as nothing shows up when I try to edit it etc. I guess then I could just upload the other .htaccess file for the mod. Thanks so much. This was tricky. I asked under the mod, but seems no one supports it much and most are onto the 4.0. Yeah, just too impatient to wait a couple more days. Thanks for the super fast help Lynne ![]() |
