Godaddy Plesk--Cannot access subdomains Vie FTP?
Hey all,
Sorry but I am not sure where to post this. I know it isn't VB related but the client does have a VB site on the server.. I am working with a godaddy dedicated server with the latest Plesk.. For some reason I cannot access subdomains through ftp? I can see them but I cannot gain access? Permissions are fine and ftp access is set to the server root.. Is anyone familiar with a godaddy dedicated with Plesk? I am more familiar with cpanel and everything has taken twice as long with Plesk.. Not to mention the client had godaddy move everything and none of the directories are where they are supposed to be--hence the reason I need to access subdomains via ftp.. I have tried the plesk file manager and it will only allow moving one file at a time--no thanks... Thanks much, Rich |

Sometimes subdomains get users assigned to them with different user/pass. I dont have a clue of where you'd check for it.
Also GoDaddy sucks Don't forget, plesk sucks to. |

Yes, I agree but this is a client that decided to follow how own advice instead of mine.. lol
I did figure out the subdomain issue though--it is just such a strange set up.. Thanks for your reply though.I appreciate it. Rich |

Maybe you can post your solution so others may benefit from it.

Well it wasn't really a solution. it was just an aspect of the control panel I haven't had to utilize before so I missed it.
You simply have to go into the subdomain account in the control panel and add a new ftp account there. Otherwise I believe only the one admin account for the server can access everything from one ftp account. Thanks |

Well after spending some time with Plesk and reading about it etc I have discovered it isn't really too bad. it is a bit confusing and not as sinple as CPanel but it does have many features.
Godaddy on the other hand---lol -- I am dealing with an "assisted" server plan so it actually comes in handy being able to contact them and after as long as 10 hours being able to have them move files, databases etc.. If you can deal with the wait then it is kind of nice but I would never go with a windows box like that---waay toio expensive.. The site is using many asp pages so I guess that is the only way to go. Thanks, Rich --------------- Added [DATE]1284713925[/DATE] at [TIME]1284713925[/TIME] --------------- While on the topic of Plesk, Godaddy and this server--............ Regarding this Windows box--Are there any asp professionals here available to answer a couple questions from time to time while I work on this project? I have worked with Joomla in the past but it is not what I do best... Thanks.. |
