Default A question about image thumbnails/previews

I'm just curious, is there any way to upload a picture and have an in-between size between the thumbnail and the full picture? I'd like to be able to post pictures into a post at a decent size for people to check out, but not using an image-resizer, since that would load the full image. For example, if I have a 1 meg screenshots I don't want that entire megabyte of image to load simply for a preview.

Thanks, and that IS an awesome resizer, but I'm still looking for a server-side resizer so my users don't have to download the full huge images. I can't find anything in this that supports it.

Thanks! That covers 90% of what I was hoping for. Now, what do I do if I want to upload an image file of the same extension (jpg for example) that is larger?

For example, the info you gave me above lets me make vb resize the uploaded image to something smaller and easy for a user to load with the rest of the page, but if they click on the image I would still like them to be able to load the original file at its original size and dimensions in a new window. Is that possible?

Sorry if it sounds like I'm being picky, but this was all automatic when I used Wordpress X_X

Its not auto in wordpress :P you still have to change the CSS of the images well unless your happy with the default sizes .. Anyway

The resizing program i said above does what you have said

See THIS post on my site (as an example)

Sorry, but that's definitely not what I'm talking about. The image is being resized, yes, but it's only via the code. There are no copies of the image on the site at the dimensions showing up after the resize.

I'll try to explain again how Wordpress did it. If you uploaded an image it saved a copy of the original, and a thumbnail for all images. If the image was larger than your max size then it also saved intermediate copy of the file, processed server side and with an appended filename, like ImageName_600x400.jpg. You could choose which image you inserted into a post, and whether or not you wanted the users to be able to click on the image and link it to the original, larger image.
