1) How do we put our news articles on the far left?
2) How do we put the new thread titles "Headlines" on the far right?

Have you read all the articles over on vb.com regarding the CMS? I am pretty sure they cover creating widgets and then putting them in a layout and assigning a layout to a section. That is basically what you have to do. Don wrote most of the articles - start by reading all his stuff.
