Releases forum tooltip suggestion
https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=199556
(random release) If you go to say the 3.8 releases forum and hover over the titles the tooltip gives useless information. Almost every releases has a [description] like the one above. My suggestion is a customization to the package that lets you set a "introduction" text and a "description" for a modification while submitting it to vborg, that will appear just as such in the thread. And have the download forum, where threads like those are listed, aka, .. releases .. to show the "intro" part or a trimmed version of the "description" as tooltip, rather then the current first 250 chars which are sort of useless in most threads. Just a thought And, if someone wants to make this and release it at no cost on vbulletin.org so other release sites can use it, yay. |

I would suggest he's trying to bring your attention to for example:
https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/forumdisplay.php?f=235 and hover over the thread/modification title and it brings up the first 250 characters of the thread as a description... |

I agree. It would be more user friendly if the actual description of the product is shown.
Paul, The goal of having a "tooltip" is to be helpful. He's referring to the tooltip that is displayed when hovering over titles on forumdisplay. The tooltip that is provided displays the first x characters of the thread. In most cases, this is not helpful as many threads (content) don't start with a product description. for example if I go to the 3.8 Addons/Chat Modifications section: https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/forumdisp...+Modifications and hover over your "Flashchat 5 Integration for vBulletin 3.8" modification I would get Quote:

Unfortunately, I don't know what we can do about it. It's up to the developers to add the text to the post/thread and if they don't put the description first, we can't do anything about it.

Thanks for the explanation people, I was confused by the fact he linked to a thread when talking about the forum display.
Anyway, Im not sure we can do a lot about it atm, but certainly in the future. It means customising the thread creation in the release forums with some new fields. Something I already had in mind so we can add install and uninstall instructions as well. Once thats done, the tooltip could be changed to pickup that information. It will never work for existing threads tho. |

You can always keep it simple for now and have descriptions around a bbcode + preg_match, making it easy to pick up on forumdisplay and less work on you.
Wouldn't require anything but a plugin really, just a thought. |
