I hate noob leechers that register just to download stuff. Even if they have the right post count.

Is there a way we can make it mandatory to use the thanks button before downloading the threads attachment?

I believe there is a modification called "hide hack" that does this.

The only thing is there is not one for 3.8? How can I request this?

Read the modification thread. Many times users will post whether the modification is working for another version or if there are problems. (Word of advice: Always read the modification thread before installing ANY modification.)
